It works well if you draw your route via point by via point, and it does a great job of organizing a whole trip's worth of routes, tracks, and waypoints into one folder, which can then be exported as a single GPX file or uploaded to my Montana with the click of a single button. I've also downloaded an Open Street Map and I'm currently trying to get it to transfer to the GPS. I can see it show up on the iPad Files app. I'm currently experimenting with connecting my Garmin to the iPad, and trying to download maps and transfer them to the GPS. For example, it's now possible to plug in a SD card reader or a USB flash drive. The new version of iOS (and iPadOS) has increased files functionality. I'm going to make an educated guess that this will work the same with some more modern Garmin GPS units. Currently, I don't have a use for this function, but it looks like it'll work. Just throwing this out there in case it'll help anyone.
